BG3 High Security Vault Keys: How to Find and Use the Keys
9 September 2026 | 15
Navigating the heavily guarded Counting House in Baldur's Gate 3 presents players with rich opportunities for legendary loot and valuable lore. Located in the lower levels of the bank, the High Security Vaults hold some of the game's finest equipment and story items. Acquiring the keys required to open these reinforced doors involves exploring various locations across the Lower City.
Locating Key Nos. 1 Through 3
The first set of keys requires adventuring through key locations across the city. Key No. 1 can be retrieved inside Ramazith's Tower, tucked away in an ornate chest. Key No. 2 requires visiting the local prison area, while Key No. 3 is obtained by completing quests or searching specific chests near the docks.
Finding Key Nos. 4 Through 6
Securing the middle keys takes players deeper into dangerous territories. Key No. 4 is hidden on the upper floor of the Water Queen's House in a guarded chamber. Key No. 5 resides within one of the desks inside the main office of the Counting House itself. Key No. 6 requires exploring the submerged Iron Throne prison facility during Act 3.
Tracking Down Key Nos. 7 Through 9
The final three keys belong to notable high-profile figures in Baldur's Gate. Key No. 7 can be obtained from Nine-Fingers Keene at the Guildhall either by pickpocketing or looting. Key No. 8 is hidden inside a jewelry box in the Cloister of Somber Embrace beneath the House of Grief. Key No. 9 is awarded by High Banker Rakath Glitterbeard after successfully recovering the bank's stolen gold.
How to Use the Keys and Access Vaults
Once you have obtained the keys, return to the Counting House vault level. Presenting your temporary pass will allow you safe passage into the secure inner sanctuary. Using the matching keys opens each vault directly without triggering alarms or requiring high Sleight of Hand skill checks.
